Throughout the ages, herbalists have supported the notion that whole plants provide more benefits to our bodies than individual plant components. Since CBD is just one of the many components found in industrial hemp, it makes sense that many CBD users want to use full spectrum products, the products that contain all the health and wellness potential hemp has to offer.

Full spectrum hemp oil contains more than 400 potentially beneficial plant elements. Knowing the significance of full spectrum oil, and how we make CBD products from full spectrum extract, could lead you to the hemp-derived product that’s right for you.

What Is Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

Hemp oil is extracted from the stalks, stems, and flowers of industrial hemp. It’s the plant extract that contains the cannabinoid CBD. While CBD is found abundantly in hemp oil, the plant extract also contains small amounts of other potentially beneficial plant elements including vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, and additional cannabinoids.

The Cannabinoids in Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

A cannabinoid is a lipid that functions similarly to a neurotransmitter.1 Full spectrum hemp oil contains numerous plant-sourced cannabinoids shown to interact with key receptors throughout your body. Just a few of the many cannabinoids you will find in full spectrum hemp oil include2:

The Entourage Effect of Full Spectrum Hemp Oil

While many people are aware of the concept of synergy, far fewer are familiar with the theory of the Entourage Effect. Synergy explains how the active elements in a compound combine to create a greater effect than each element has on its own. In mathematical terms, synergy explains how 1+1=3.

The Entourage Effect explains how the inactive components in cannabis combine to create an effect from elements that are individually inactive, enhancing the effects of synergy. It’s because of the Entourage Effect that full spectrum hemp oil is believed more potent than 0% THC (CBD isolate) products.

Vitamins, Minerals, and Essential Fatty Acids

In addition to the combined potential of numerous cannabinoids, many people prefer full spectrum CBD products for their nutritional value. Hemp-derived CBD contains all the plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals found in the original plant, including:

How to Extract Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil

Before the cannabinoid-rich oils from the hemp plant can be used to make full-spectrum tinctures, capsules, edibles, and topical products, the oil must be separated from the plant matter. Since many products made with hemp extract are ingested, it’s crucial that the oil is extracted using a food-safe extraction method.  The two methods most-often used include:

Full-Spectrum Hemp Oil Products from CBDistillery™

Full spectrum hemp-derived CBD products contain all the additional cannabinoids, vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids found naturally in hemp. While CBD is the most abundant of the cannabinoids in full spectrum extract, the trace amounts of additional cannabinoids, plant terpenes, and flavonoids contribute to the Entourage Effect. It’s the Entourage Effect that explains how the additional elements combine to magnify and multiply the effects of the others.

When selecting a full spectrum product, it’s important to know how the cannabinoid-rich oil was extracted. It’s essential that the extraction method produces a safe, potent, quality product. That’s why we rely on CO2 extraction for our full spectrum CBD products.

CBD and CBN are both cannabinoids. If you are new to the terminology, a cannabinoid functions similarly to a neurotransmitter. While many people are becoming more familiar with the plant-based cannabinoids CBD and THC, far fewer realize that researchers have identified close to 120 potentially beneficial cannabinoids.

Although researchers identified the cannabinoid cannabinol (CBN) long before CBD, CBN has not been studied as extensively. That being said, it may be important to know that preliminary investigations suggest CBN has significant health and wellness potential of its own.

CBD vs. CBN: Understanding the Differences

While CBD and CBN are both cannabinoids, they do not function in the same manner. Knowing the differences between CBD and CBN can help those investigating the wellness potential of hemp-derived products appreciate the value of each of these potentially beneficial cannabinoids. Consider the following differences:

Where Do CBD and CBN Come From?

There are two potential sources for plant-based cannabinoids, the cannabis plants hemp and marijuana. While both sources contain ample amounts of CBD, the CBN levels are generally quite low. Full-spectrum hemp oil contains both CBD and CBN.

About CBN

While CBN is not shown to provide the same level of health and wellness potential as CBD, researchers are not overlooking the potential benefits of the cannabinoid. While investigations are still preliminary, the research into the effects of CBN is quite intriguing.3 CBN is shown to be non-intoxicating.

While CBN is a byproduct of the breakdown of THC, this cannabinoid is not considered psychoactive, at least not in the same manner as THC. Some researchers believe large amounts of CBN could be considered mildly psychoactive, but confirm that CBN does not cause the psychoactive effects THC is known for.

The Therapeutic Potential of Cannabinoids Working Together

CBD and CBN both interact with the Encannabinoid System (ECS), the network of messengers and receptors that regulate nearly every crucial function in your body. Because CBN has an affinity to the same receptors as THC, researchers have credited CBN with a variety of potentially helpful effects.

CBN is one of the many plant-based cannabinoids found in full-spectrum CBD oil. The cannabinoids in full-spectrum hemp oil mimic the messengers and influence the receptors of the communication network that regulates nearly every essential function critical to your health, your ECS.8 Supporting the function of your endocannabinoid system with plant-based cannabinoids helps keep this vital system functioning efficiently.

Many CBD enthusiasts believe full-spectrum CBD products are the most potent because of a fascinating phenomenon known as the entourage effect. It’s the entourage effect that explains how each plant element, including the cannabinoids CBD and CBN, magnify and multiply the health and wellness potential of the others.

Choosing Between CBD and CBN

While it’s interesting to compare the effects of different cannabinoids, you don’t need to decide between CBN or CBD. In fact, it would be quite challenging to find a product that contains significant levels of cannabinol (CBN).

You can find CBN in full-spectrum hemp oil products, the products we commonly refer to as CBD oil. Full-spectrum hemp oil contains a significant amount of CBD and small amounts of CBN. Since each of the potentially beneficial cannabinoids in full-spectrum magnifies and multiplies the effects of the others, the CBN in full-spectrum CBD works together to maximize the potential of full-spectrum products.

Selecting the Ideal CBDistillery™ Product for Your Preferences

It’s important to note that full-spectrum hemp oil contains <0.3% THC. While not enough to cause intoxication, those who are not comfortable using products with trace amounts of THC have the option of using products made with a purified form of CBD, CBD isolate. While products made with CBD isolate do not contribute to the entourage effect of additional cannabinoids like CBN, CBD isolate is flavorless, odorless, and contains 0% THC.

For high-quality, full-spectrum CBD and products formulated with CBD isolate, visit CBDistillery. Our hemp-derived CBD products are created from non-GMO industrial hemp grown using natural farming practices and processed using food-safe CO2 extraction. You can verify the purity, potency, and cannabinoid content of our products by viewing third-party test results on our site or scanning the QR code featured on every product label. Summer is just around the corner, which means the season of fresh produce has arrived. One of our favorite ways to enjoy warm weather fruits and vegetables is to combine them into a refreshing salad. Grilled Apricot, Watermelon & Arugula Salad with CBD Balsamic Honey Vinaigrette

By: The Herb Somm

Serving Size: 4       Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

Salad

4 cups arugula

½ medium watermelon cut into cubes

2 – 3 small apricots

¼ red onion

2 tablespoons Feta cheese to taste

A handful of chopped mint

Infused Balsamic Honey Vinaigrette

½ cup balsamic vinegar

¼ cup local wildflower honey

¼ cup extra virgin olive oil or kalamata cold pressed olive oil

0.25 grams CBDistillery 99% Pure CBDelicious Isolate Powder

Sea salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat a grill (or grill pan) to medium heat. Rinse the apricots and slice into sixths. Put the apricot slices on a skewer and brush lightly with olive oil. Place the apricots on the grill or grill pan and cook for 1 – 2 minutes per side. Grill just enough to caramelize them, but not cook them all the way through. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. Next, cut the watermelon, mint, and onion. Use a knife to cut the watermelon in half and then into cubes. Discard the rind and seeds into your compost and place the cubes into a medium bowl. Set aside. For the red onion, chop ¼ of the onion into long, thin pieces to be incorporated into the salad. Also be sure to chop the mint into small, edible pieces. Place into a bowl and set aside.
  3. Now it is time to make the vinaigrette. In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, honey, olive oil, and .25 grams of CBDistillery 99% Pure CBDelicious Isolate Powder (about ¼ of the jar). Mix until all of the ingredients are combined well. Season with salt and pepper. Remember, you will most likely have leftover vinaigrette to use for future salads, so be sure to have an air-tight container that will preserve the CBD dressing.
  4. The final step is to build your salad. In a salad bowl, add the arugula, mint, and red onion. Using a tablespoon, add your desired amount of salad dressing to the bowl and toss well. Plate the arugula mix onto four plates and top with watermelon, grilled apricots, and a sprinkle of feta cheese along with fresh ground black pepper. Pair with your favorite summer white wine, and enjoy!

As you might have heard by now, using Cannabidiol (CBD) in your cooking is a healthy way to improve your wellness routine. By using CBD as an ingredient, there are a lot of different ways you can incorporate this organic compound into different recipes. Some of our favorite culinary ideas include making an infusion, drizzling CBD oil on top of a favorite dish or adding CBD to tea or coffee.

Instead, CBD acts as a powerful medicine that helps aid in the treatment of various ailments. It is also an excellent nutritional source, so we love adding CBD to our cooking.

We were lucky enough to sample two of their most popular products. The first being The CBDistillery’s 2500mg Full Spectrum Tincture (SRP $130). This incredible bottle of hemp-derived oil is pesticide-free, non-GMO, and extracted from the mature stalks and stems of the hemp plant. Blended with coconut MCT oil, this tincture is very therapeutic and providing fast relief.

We also sampled The CBDistillery’s 99+% Pure CBD Isolate Powder ($30 SRP for 1 gram). The powder is non-GMO, pesticide-free, and CO2 extracted from industrial hemp oil. The best way to use isolate powder is to use it as an ingredient. We love incorporating it into different sauces, coffee, tea, parfaits, and more. It’s also packed with therapeutic health benefits. Because of its powerful healing properties, this product is one of the company’s top-selling items.

Serves: 4
Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

CBD Raw Pesto

2 cups fresh baby spinach

1 cup fresh basil

½ cup fresh Italian parsley

½ cup cherry tomatoes

1 tablespoon pine nuts

2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

⅓ grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic

2 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon The CBDistillery 2500mg Hemp Cannabinoid Extract (or 4 ml per serving)

Dash of salt

Dash of black pepper

Spicy Shrimp Pasta

8 ounces uncooked Gigli pasta

1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 pound asparagus cut into 2-inch pieces

½ mixed cherry tomatoes halved

2 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Dash of salt

Dash of black pepper

Directions:

  1. Beginning with the raw pesto ingredients, rinse off the leafy greens thoroughly and place all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend or process until finely chopped and pesto becomes a smooth sauce.
  2. Using a spoon, scoop the pesto sauce into a small bowl, cover with saran wrap, and place into the refrigerator until needed.
  3.  Next, it’s time to make the pasta. Using a large pot, boil water over high heat. Add the uncooked Gigli noodles and cook according to package instructions.

  4. Using a large saucepan, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat until melted. Before adding the shrimp to the pan, dip both sides of the shrimp into a blend of ground red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. We prefer extra spicy, so make sure your shrimps are saturated with the spices. If you prefer less spicy, simply sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top. Add shrimp to the heated pan, add lemon juice, and cook until the shrimp turn pink on both sides.
  5. While the noodles are cooking, wash the asparagus and cut into 2-inch pieces. Place the asparagus into the boiling water with the pasta for the last 3 minutes of cook time. Drain in a colander and set aside.
  6. Once the shrimp have finished cooking, add the noodles and asparagus to the pan. Saute together briefly and remove from heat.
  7. Using the pesto sauce, add in 6 – 8 tablespoons depending on your preference. Add cherry tomatoes, small fresh basil leaves, and top with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  8.  Serve and enjoy.

CBD Infused Steak and Veggie Buddha Bowl

The sixth recipe in the CBDelicious Cooking Series, Cooking with CBD. Looking for a healthy dinner option? This incredibly delicious, and easy to make, CBD Infused Steak and Veggie Buddha Bowl is an excellent source of protein paired with the 99% pure CBD isolate.

CBD Infused Steak and Vegetable Buddha Bowl
Ingredients:
STEAK

VEGETABLES

CHICKPEAS

TAHINI SAUCE

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (204 C) and arrange sweet potatoes and onions on a bare baking sheet. Drizzle both with a bit of oil, making sure the flesh of the sweet potatoes are well coated. Roast for 8-10 minutes. While vegetables are roasting, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add chickpeas to a mixing bowl and toss with seasonings. Once hot, add 1 Tbsp oil and chickpeas and sauté, stirring frequently. If they’re browning too quickly, turn down heat. If there isn’t much browning going on, increase heat. I found 10 minutes total at slightly over medium heat was perfect. Once the chickpeas are browned and fragrant, remove from heat and set aside. Remove veggies from the oven after 8 – 10 minutes and flip sweet potatoes and add broccolini. Drizzle broccolini with a bit of olive oil and season with a pinch each salt and pepper. Bake for another 8-10 minutes, then remove from oven and add kale. Drizzle kale with a touch more oil and season with a pinch each salt and pepper. Bake for another 4-5 minutes then set aside. Prepare sauce by adding tahini, agave, lemon juice and CBD Isolate to a mixing bowl and whisking to combine. Add hot water until a pourable sauce is formed. Set aside. To serve: Divide vegetables between serving bowls and top with chickpeas + tahini sauce. Top with grilled steak. Best when fresh, though leftovers will keep for a few days in the fridge. There will most likely be leftover sauce, which can be added to leftovers or other meals.

Rave Reviews explains, they researched the 20 Best CBD Oil Products on the market, so their viewers can make an informed choice when purchasing CBD. The focus was on the 20 companies you’re likely to find when you search for CBD online.

In order to rate the companies from best to worst, Rave Reviews looked at four categories:

So how did The CBDistillery™ Full Spectrum Tincture rank? Here is Rave’s review:

“With its geometric logo and masculine font, this company’s product line would be right at home in a skate shop. Tinctures all come in 15 milliliter bottles, with CBD content moving from 250 to 500 to 1000 milligrams per bottle.

Prices are quite impressive, ranging from $20 to just $60 for a whole 1000mg of CBD. It’s worth noting that all of their tinctures (as well as nearly every other item on the site) appear to be currently on sale. Unlike most other companies, they also include 3rd party lab results right on their product pages, so you know the quality you’re getting.

While the company’s tinctures contain full spectrum CBD, CBDistillery does offer CBD isolate in powder and crystal form. They also sell products compatible with vape pens, topical creams, capsules, dabbing options, CBD for pets, and hats and shirts.”

We recently conducted a survey where we asked CBDistillery™ customers, “what is the primary benefit you received from CBDistillery™ products?” Not to our surprise, we received a variety of answers, no two entirely alike. What immediately sparked my attention, were the comments from customers stating something similar to, “I didn’t get any relief” and “it helped a little but not as much as I’d hoped.” The majority of the feedback we receive from CBDistillery™ customers on a day-to-day basis is how CBD has changed their lives for the better. So why does CBD impact some and not others? Why does cannabis affect people differently?

To get some answers, I took to the Internet and found several studies about why cannabis products affect users differently. Apparently, I am not the first person to ask this question. Even the ‘father of THC,’ Rafael Mechoulam was curious about how this newly discovered molecule would affect different people. Thus, one evening he invited over a few of his friends for some cake, which little did they know, was laced with 10mg of pure THC. A few of his friends felt ‘strange, in a different world,’ while some couldn’t stop talking or giggling. While the scientist now understood the cannabis compound, THC does, in fact, cause different reactions, it wasn’t until years later that we would figure out why. Here is a look as to why all cannabis (marijuana or hemp derived) products affect people differently.

Genetics

About 20% of the population has good endocannabinoid genetics. These people were born with a genetic mutation that increases the level of endocannabinoids and levels of anandamide (the so-called bliss molecule) naturally occurring in their system.Cannabis Genetics As a whole, the endocannabinoid system is partially responsible for regulating sleep, appetite, mood, motor control, immune function, pleasure, pain, reproduction and fertility, memory and temperature regulation. When someone consumes cannabis, the cannabinoids, like THC and CBD, replace the naturally occurring endocannabinoids in your body. Thus, if you are among the lucky few that have this genetic mutation, you are most likely less inclined to feel the effects of CBD because your body already naturally produces a similar result.

Men vs. Women

Cannabidiol products affect men and women differently. Research shows that estrogen makes females more sensitive to cannabis. That time of the month? Washington State University found that women are impacted more by THC a day or two before ovulation, because of the peak in estrogen levels.1

Men versus Women Cannabis Study

Unique Biochemistry

Biochemistry, the study of chemical substances and vital processes occurring in living organisms is yet another explanation as to why people react differently to CBD products. No two individuals have the exact biochemistry make up, which affects the way substances metabolize throughout our system. The health of one’s endocannabinoid system plays a significant role in this. As previously mentioned, the human body naturally produces endocannabinoids. Things like diet, stress, and overall lifestyle influences endocannabinoid levels. When consuming cannabis products, you are increasing endocannabinoid levels. For individuals who have deprived levels, cannabis consumption will most likely produce a favorable experience, whereas someone with healthy endocannabinoid levels might not “feel” the effects of CBD or other marijuana products.

Overall Health

Someone who is using cannabis products to treat symptoms for a disease or disorder is going to have a very different experience than someone using cannabis recreationally. When someone is fighting off an ailment or illness, that individual’s biochemistry and endocannabinoid levels are altered, thus, potentially producing a different effect than if that person’s endocannabinoid levels were replenished.
