Tell Congress to Stop the Hemp Ban

Elected officials are pushing to ban hemp products. Tell Congress to protect your access to CBD.

From Bill Stoufer, CBDistillery President

I want to extend my sincere appreciation for your purchases from CBDistillery. I am so proud that CBDistillery, and our hemp products, have earned your trust and a place in your wellness routine.

But right now, we need your help. Some elected officials in Congress are pushing to include language in the omnibus spending package that, if passed, would make most of our CBD products illegal and would be catastrophic to the CBD industry.

How Can I Help?

Your voice matters! Follow these simple steps to reach out to your elected officials and vote no on proposed language that would redefine hemp and effectively end the hemp industry.

  • Click here to find your elected officials in the Senate, and click here to find your elected officials in the House of Representatives. (You can use the “Find Your Representative” box in the upper right corner to look up your officials in the House of Representatives by zip code.)
  • From the results, click the name of your Senator or Representative.
  • You will then be taken to the webpage for your elected officials. Find the link to contact them.
  • Fill out your information, including your name and contact information. Don’t forget to include your address, so your elected officials know you are one of their constituents!
  • Click the “Copy Message” button on this page to copy the suggested message we’ve pre-written for you, and paste it into the comment field to your elected official.

As a resident and voter in your district, I am asking you to VOTE NO on any proposed language to redefine hemp. This language would effectively end the $28.4 billion hemp industry, punishing farmers and taking away jobs from more than 300,000 hard-working U.S. citizens.

Voting to redefine hemp would also take away access to the safe and effective CBD wellness products that I, like many of your constituents, benefit from. In fact, a recent study from Wofford College and California State University Bakersfield found that legal access to purchase CBD products leads to a statistically significant reduction in opioid prescriptions.

Instead of legislation to ban hemp, please focus on responsible regulations that will keep your constituents safe, like restricting the sale of hemp products to adults at least 21 years old, mandating independent third-party lab testing to ensure safety, and uniform labeling so consumers like me can more easily make informed choices.

Thank you for protecting jobs, farms, and your constituents who rely on access to hemp-derived CBD.

What is this about a possible hemp ban?

There is a real chance that hemp-killing language might be included in the omnibus spending package, which could be passed once the government shutdown ends. Certain elected officials are pushing hard to include this language, which would effectively ban most hemp products (making most of our products illegal) and devastate the hemp industry.

What does this mean for me?

We know that our customers enjoy our products for a variety of reasons, all of which are geared towards fulfilling a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Right now, we need your support to protect your access to these products. If language that Sen. McConnell and Rep. Harris are pushing is passed by Congress in the omnibus spending package, it would redefine hemp in a way that would effectively end the hemp industry and make most of our hemp-derived CBD products illegal.

Please join me in contacting our elected officials and asking them to protect your access to hemp-derived CBD products (as well as the jobs of more than 300,000 hard-working industry employees).
